Standards of Excellence started as a business dedicated to providing classes and tutorial services  to the Austin area homeschooling community. We have expanded our focus to include public and private sectors as well.  

About SOE:

Homeschooling since 1991, owner of Standards of Excellence, Viv Lynn, brings over 30 years of teaching experience to serve the Austin homeschool community. She is passionate about the Lord and teaching, and believes all learning should be FUN!!!! She has taught diverse subjects in tutorials, church, as well as private, public, and community schools. In addition, Viv is currently serving as Academic Development Department Director with One Day Academy, where she teaches classes. She is also available to teach a broad spectrum of ages and subjects in your home for private lessons.

Viv has developed a style of teaching that implements creative and kinesthetic methods that make lessons fun as well as interactive! She also arranges field trips whenever possible to make lessons realistic. Viv delights in working individually with students to enhance their understanding!

Viv and Ken served on the leadership team in ministry at Grace Fellowship in Georgetown for 13 years, where they’ve been members since 1981! Viv has served as Associate Director of the Youth Group, worked in the Children’s Church there, and was director for the PROCLAIM! Puppet Outreach team.

Ken and Viv directed the CHEACT Academic Fairs from 2000-2010. This event creates a safe, Christian atmosphere where students could demonstration their hard work and achievements. It was an encouragement for students to participate for fun and academic growth!

Ken and Viv are past Members to the Board for CHEACT (Christian Home Education Association of Central Texas). They are thankful for the opportunity to work closely with this fine organization (2001-2003).
